Second Periodic Exam
Researching out to those who need help
As the country's poverty level dips and as more and more Filipinos flock to the cities, the less privileged members of our society have become more visible around us. many of them we find begging in the streets -those children and olds w/ physical disabilities; those who have been robbed of their rights to food, education, and happy childhood; and senior citizens abandoned by relatives and friends. This lesson does not aim to make you feel guilty about your blessings in life. Instead, it intends to present to you a more balanced view of social realities in our country. Knowing this as a scout, should help you become more sensitive and more sompassionate toward other people's sufferings.
Find out the answers to the question below by doing some research on your own as you will discover or maybe visit an institution or organization involved in helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Your research may then answer the following:
1.) What do the terms disabled, physical disability, and impairment mean?
2.) Who are considered persons with disabilities?
3.)What forms of help are given to persons with disabilities by the government, by non-governmentat oraganization, by private citizens in the community?
4.) How do you consider yourself (scout) to be of service to this society's demand?
